COVID-19 Update 04/30/2020

On April 28th, 2020, Governor Charlie Baker extended the closure of non essential businesses to May 18th, 2020.

The MA SOS research room remains closed to the public. PCS will still be able to pick up and drop off documents and requests for processing. We will continue to file electronically, and via fax.  Most services will remain up and running, with the expectation of increased turnaround times due to the impact of these procedures and reduced- in house staff at the MA SOS.

For legalizations and authentications,  the US Department of State is currently experiencing signifcant delays in processing and releasing document; many embassies and consulates are experiencing delays as well.  Please reach out out to us for timing estimates for any upcoming projects.

The on-site terminal that houses the federal tax lien database at the US District Court in Boston will not be accessible for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19. PCS will monitor the situation and will plan to run all USDC/Federal Tax Lien search requests as soon as the database becomes accessible. Please note that this does not affect litigation searches at the MA-USDC or federal tax lien searches at the county Registry of Deeds.

The MA Court system remains closed to the public. Registries are still accepting e-filings for applicable docs.

Our friends at the National Public Records Research Association (NPRRA) have posted a state by state chart of jurisdiction updates related to closures and access limitations.  The chart will be updated as news comes in over the coming days and weeks. We recommend saving this link and checking back frequently for the most up to date version.

NPRRA Chart of State Offices / COVID19 closure & access updates

PCS remains open and available. We are well equipped to handle most work items remotely, and we have limited staff in office ready to address items that need physical handling.  You are always welcome and encouraged to reach out to PCS directly with any questions about specific states, orders and anticipated impact of access restrictions.
